Ademola Adeleke Wins Osun Governorship Election, Secures Second Term

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has been declared the winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election, securing another four-year term in office.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Adeleke as the winner after results from all 30 local government areas in the state were collated in Osogbo.
Adeleke, who contested under the Accord Party, received 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 444,815 votes.
The difference between the two major candidates was 66,252 votes. Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came third with 17,180 votes.

9 Local Government Areas
According to the final results, Adeleke won in 19 of Osun State's 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won the remaining 11.
Some of Adeleke's strongest results came from areas including Ede North, Ede South and Osogbo.
In Ede North, Adeleke recorded 35,427 votes against Oyebamiji's 10,283 votes. In Ede South, he secured 26,188 votes compared with 6,219 votes for the APC candidate.
Adeleke also won in Osogbo, the state capital, where he received 36,480 votes against Oyebamiji's 30,474.
Second Term for Adeleke
The victory gives Adeleke another four years as governor of Osun State.
He first won the governorship election in 2022 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), defeating then-incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
For the 2026 election, however, Adeleke contested under the Accord Party after leaving the PDP.
Celebrations Across Osun
Following the announcement of the results, supporters gathered in different parts of the state to celebrate Adeleke's victory.
Reports from Osogbo and Ede described scenes of supporters singing, dancing and celebrating the governor's return for another term.
The election also attracted attention because of reports of an attack on electoral officers at a polling unit in Osogbo during the voting process. Some electoral officers were reportedly hospitalised following the incident.

The major results were:
- Ademola Adeleke (Accord): 511,067 votes
- Bola Oyebamiji (APC): 444,815 votes
- Najeem Salaam (ADC): 17,180 votes
Adeleke's victory marks the beginning of his second term as governor of Osun State.
As the state moves forward, attention will now turn to the governor's plans for his next four years in office and the issues residents expect his administration to address.
